Question: I/ve to play guitar tomorrow!.!.BUT!?

I hit my finger with a hammer & when I play it bleeds from the nail! HELP! What should I do!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Left or right hand!?

Right hand is easier - use a plectrum and adapt your playing style accordingly!. If you strum and aren't accustomed to a plectrum, use a very thin one and keep your wrist loose!. If you finger-pick, there are picks that attach to your fingers (I have 3 different styles of them) but it takes a while to get used to using them so you don't really have time!.

Left hand - there's not much you can do apart from making sure it has as long as possible to heal before you play!. Any kind of dressing will interfere with your ability to hold down a string cleanly!. You may just have to settle for bleeding and cleaning up the guitar neck afterwards!. There are liquid dressings that cover a wound like nail varnish but I can't see them helping given the location of your injury!.

If you could cause yourself further damage by playing, it might be wise to cancel your performance on this occasion - Sad, I know but sometimes we have to do things we would rather have avoided!.
