Question: Does the sound of natural harmoincs change when you tune down the guitar!?
I need a little help on this one, I looked for this answer in other places including my music texts but theres no real mention about it!. Most of the time when i play guitar I have it tuned to E flat!. A couple songs need you to play natural harmonics in the E flat tuning!. My question is does the tuning change the sound of the natural harmonic when compared to playing it on E standard tuning!. I can't really hear a difference and the positions to play them are exactly the same as standard tuning (e!.g!. 12th fret, 5th fret, 7th fret)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Do you mean that you can't hear the difference between the harmonics of the E string tuned to E and the harmonics of the same string tuned to Eb!? Well, the harmonics should change! If you can't hear the difference, perhaps it's because when you retune, you're also retuning your ear to hear the octave of the string you just tuned!. Try recording the sounds when tuned one way, then compare it to the sounds on your guitar tuned the other way!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If your playing the e string flat, and hit a harmonic, then of course the pitch will be a little different (higher) then if it were in standard tuning!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
