Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Thespian was a term that was used a couple of centuries ago to describe oneself as an actor!. Of course, now we all just say actor instead of thespian in modern English!. The word was derived from "Thespis of Icaria" who is claimed to be the first person ever to appear on stage as an actor in a play, although the reality is undoubtedly more complex!. In other sources, he is said to have introduced the first actor in addition to the chorus!.
