Question: What's good technique for conducting as a drum major!?
I'm trying out for drum major and was wondering what are some tips on good technique for a drum major!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Most 4/4 conducting is almost an exagerrated + sign; your hand(s) come down on count 1, the hand crosses to one side on count 2, it crosses to the other side on count 3, and rises to the top of your pattern (in order to come down again on the downbeat) on count 4!.

There are fancier patterns which can be fun (box, alternating box, swing) but they are more for show and they still have a strong downbeat!. For my drum major audition, I had to come up with an original salute, bark voice commands, and conduct to a recorded piece!. Use a Sousa march!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
