It's common to branch out after that because you can play a lot more pieces based on your level of technique!. I played the pieces in the 6-10 books but not from them just because they were in the repertoire!. But I started buying individual pieces and checking them out from libraries when I hit those books as well!. I never followed the method though, just used the pieces in them!.

When I played for hobby I practiced an hour a day (I do right now as well because I hurt myself and I don't want to exacerbate it!.) When I'm well I practice about 28 hours a week!. But I usually just do my hour in one sitting with a good warmup!. If I do more than an hour I break it up into 2 and 2 or 1 and 2 depending on if I do 3 or 4 hours with breaks every hour!.

I have always taken lessons once a week although I'd like more!. I just can't afford it!. :(

I can't answer the suzuki book questions, and I don't take private lessons, but I practice at lest 8 or more hours a week!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
