Question: How can you learn to be a special effects makeup artist!?
My daughter will soon be entering her junior year in high school and has expressed interest in becoming a special effects makeup artist!. She has been on the makeup crew of her school plays!.

I would like her to get a four year college degree!. The only college major I can think of that is even loosely related would be a theater arts program, however she is not really interested in writing screenplays or performing, so it seems silly to her through this!.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how she could gain some additional experience at this while she is still in high school, and determine if this career path is really for her!? also, if she decides to pursue it, what type of education should she get!?

Thanks -Www@QuestionHome@Com

have her apply to performing arts college like emerson college in boston that has stage tech as a majorWww@QuestionHome@Com

Clown School!. Just kidding!. How about Cosmetology classes!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Volunteer to do the make up for community theater productions!. They'll be thrilled, believe me!.

Another route is to find people making low budget, independent films who can't afford to pay big money!. Make up for film is different than for the stage so she'll learn about that aspect to!.

Since she wants to do special effects, here's a place that teaches that:

I don't know much about it; I don't think its a college though!.

She could also major in film; it can't hurt to know the entire process and she may become the next great special effects filmmaker!

You can buy books on all these disciplines!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
