Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: The additional string is called LOW B!. Its down there about the second key on a piano!. I adapted to it pretty quick, it opened up an unexpended dimension on the fretboard, whereas I used to play everything off the E string (like guitarists do) I now play off what I call Middle C, its on the middle string right there in th emiddle of the fret board!. Go ahead and get one! Yes I would hate to go back to 4 string although I still have one I would hate to let my 5 string skill go to waste now that I have it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com 2-string bass is crazier! http://www!.geocities!.com/washtubbass/car!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com If you've been playing for 15 years you should have no problem at all!
