Question: Exagerated Showing Off Too Much or What!?
There's this kid at school who plays guitar and he just found out I played guitar!. I don't want almost anyone to know because then they'll say I'm showing off!. This kid annoys me everyday to bring my guitar and wants me to join band!. He act like he knows more than me although i began like 5 months ago and he started like 6!. He says he can do this and that and it bugs me!. He shows off the guitar he bought at target!. Its a fender "starocaster" I respect that he has a guitar but come on he looks up for pix on the net to show girls his guitar when hes not even showing off his guitar!. He shows off a All American Strat!. Everytime were in class he begins talking about guitar to me and about how we should bring them!.!.He starts acting like hes playing but in a dumb weird way!. What should I tell him!? I don't want to hurt his feelings but I just wish he wouldn't show off to everyone!. Maybe then I will bring my guitar and we can jam like friends!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would say hurt his feelings anyway!. You can't keep him from showing off to everybody else but you can get him to leave you alone!. Just be blunt and honest with him!. Tell him he's a poser and to just leave you alone!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Tell him to lay off and theres more to life than strumming on a few stringsWww@QuestionHome@Com

Fender does make a "Starocaster" but I doubt he got it from Target!. Target sells pretty cheap guitars, as do other non-musical instrument retail outlets!.

If you are confident in your abilities, take him up on your offer!. Guitar playing is meant to be shared!. I would not worry about people thinking you're "showing off", unless you really develop an attitude about it!. Don't get sucked into the "I'm better" vibe!. Definitely take your guitar in and jam!. You might find a few guys to jam with regularly - and thats what its all about!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Aww!.!.!. I have had this experience in high school!. Oh and it's "Stratocaster" not "Starocaster" =)!. But on to the point!. Bring your guitar to school one day, and tell him to bring his guitar to school one day!. Jam (Jam like bob marley would, as he would know all about jamming) for a couple of minutes, let's see how he really is!. If he sucks, than your point is proven!. If you suck, than his point is proven!. And well, if you both suck, than he's just an idiot for being cocky, and you have an excuse for only playing 5 months!. Simple as that =)Www@QuestionHome@Com
