Question: Help, I'm a terrible singer! Is there any hope for me!?

I play piano, guitar, various wind instruments and violin!. I'm a good sightreader!. I have a good memory and love music of all kinds (OK, most kinds)!. My ear is not bad and I can stay on pitch!. But my voice is badly lacking in tone quality and I would love to improve it!. Can this be done through exercises, lessons etc!., or is it just something you're born with and I ain't got!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you're who I think you are, all I can say is please, please take lessons! Your singing is so revolting-- sorry, but this is true-- compared to the rest of your performing, that it really detracts from things!. Your audience suffers embarrassment on your behalf!. It's a good thing that you know your pitch perfectly already!. This just makes singing easier for you!. We all know that you'll never be the singer that goes flat all of the time!. Try taking lessons and see what happens!. I really don't trust you when you say you lack tone quality!. Staying on key is everything!.
