Question: Electric Guitar Help! I need somebody to help me choose a humbucker pickup!.!?
OK, I currently have a Yamaha RGX520FZ!. It has a mahogany body and rosewood fingerboard!. I'm looking to replace its bridge pick-up to something good!. I need some "Bright" tones (though I'm not sure what that means)!. I already have a good Jazz neck pick-up but I want something for rock and heavy rock that's good with distortion!. Price is good up to $80 or so and I'm probably buying it on EBay!. I heard Duncan humbuckers and Dimarzios are good but I don't know what model type and all that!.

Any help!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you want a clean sound, get Seymour Duncan !. I personally use DiMarzio on my Gibson les paul because the sound is dirties and very fat!.

Buy the dual coil DiMarzzio!.!. Their is no set rules since it is going to replace the front pickup!. The sound will already be a little more mellow but still retain the bite!.

What i lvoe about Dimarzzio is that, if you lower the volume a bit, the sound gets cleaner and if tend to solo, just push the volume all the way up to get that distorted sound!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Gotta be a bareknuckle pickup (such as the Nail Bomb)!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

yea, I've been looking into that sort of stuff myself!. As far as neck humbuckers go, You're not really going to get very much "brightness" in it, unless you get an active pickup, like an EMG!. Those get a little pricey, however, and you also have to find somewhere to stow a 9v battery!. DiMarzio has good pickups, but tell you the truth, I would suggest looking for something with a little LESS output (unless you go active) The more passive output you get, the more the pickup compresses the sound it picks up, rolling off highs and lows!. There's a reason why strats and teles sound so much more twangy, and it's the low-output single coil pickups, and all the nuance they pick up!.

If you're looking for rock and metal tones, why not save your guitar and pick up a pedal instead!? There's a lot of treble-booster pedals, distortion pedals, EQ units, and all that that'll probably give you not only what you want, but lots more, AND you won't have to mangle a nice looking guitar!.

One last suggestion!.!.!.
I just bought a pickup set for my strat on ebay from a company named Dragonfire!. They have a huge selection of pickups with really high outputs, including active pickups!. They appear to make knockoffs of EMGs, Gibsons, Fenders, and a variety of other pickups for a fraction of the price (and possibly quality)!. I ordered the Dave Gilmour Special that EMG sells (DG20), with built-in active single coils, built in expander and distortion, and alternate voicing switching for 129!.00, and that's for 3 pickups and pickguard!. I saw EMG 61 knockoffs for $35!.00!.

So!.!.!.to sum up!.!.!.

If you are going to get pickups, look for passive first!. If you feel brave and not worried about carving into your guitar, find actives!. Be prepared to lose something sonically for more brutal loudness!.
I would suggest finding a pedal to fix your problems!.
Look at Dragonfire pickups!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
