Question: How to pick guitar and sing at the same time!?
Hi! I've been teaching myself "Dear Mr!. Fantasy" (steve winwood) from a youtube video from '72!. Steve winwood picks within the chords while singing, so i'm trying to do the same!. I've got the picking down, but i can only sing while strumming the chord progression!. How can I achieve both in like two weeks!?!!!! School Talent Show!!!!! (p!.s!. I'm using multiple sources of the song: the last great traffic jam, crossroads festival 08, welcome to the canteen, mr!. fantasy, youtube, and footage i shot at the blindfaith reunion this year!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

When I'm learning a more complex song I go slooooooow!. Try playing the piece very slowly to get your singing down with your picking, as it comes toghether increase your speed!. If you can't master the song before the show then strum while you sing and take some breaks to show off your picking!.

I haven't seen Steve Winwood's style, but he may play what is called fingerstyle; playing individual notes within each chord formed!.
To sing while playing lead solos on the guitar is extremely difficult for most!. I've never attempted to sing while playing lead guitar, but only while accompanying in rhythm!.
Some players have difficulty singing and playing guitar, such as B!.B!. King!. Watch him as he performs!. He never sings while he is picking out his blues, but does sing while cradling Lucille!.
Nevertheless, continue to practice the technique you wish to accomplish!. If you haven't reached your goal at the time of talent show then simply sing and strum your best!. All will turn out well!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
