Question: Why do i always drop my guitar pick!?
Whenever i play my acoustic guitar my pick always moves around in my fingers and eventually drops!. if i holf it too tight im too tense to play but, because i hold it loosely i drop it!. I have been playing electric guitar forever and never had this problem but whenever i strum chords it arises!. What are some suggestions/techniques i could use to avoid this problem!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Try "COOL" guitar picks!. They have a roughened surface that is similar to sand paper and make them easier to hold!.!.!. they also work very well if you work up a sweat!. They aren't cheap, however!.

BTW a lot of guitar pickers have this problem which is why many of the bands have multiple picks tied onto the mic booms with a very light thread!. If they drop a pick or break one, the next new one is right there in front of them, hanging next to the mic!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

To some degree, you have to learn how to hold your pick correctly!. It's a technique thing!. If you play a lot of electric you aren't used to how the strings are going to be thicker and push back at you with an acoustic!. You've got to play harder with an acoustic, you have to hold the pick in a different way!. It's a subtle thing, but there it is!. Grip firmly with the fingers, but don't tense up your wrist so much that it won't move freely!. Same idea with electric, but with acoustic you need a little more tension in the fingers and a little more firmness in the wrist!.

That said, picks do get dropped!. When I play live and it's a hot club or I get really into the material (jumping around and being all rockstar and having a good time) then I start sweating, and that means slippery fingers!.

I've gone through a few different picks, but I use 'Brain' picks - like the other answerer said, this is a brand of picks with a roughened surface, it makes them *much* easier to grip!.

You can also use !.!.!. umm, I think it's called Gorilla Snot!. It looks really nasty, but it does work if you don't want to give up using that certain favorite pick!.

Hey friend,Looks like theres some problem in holding your pick correctly!.!.!.So,first of all, watch it carefully that you hold the pick with its surface and not the triangular ends!.!.!.i mean you should not hold the pick from where its pointed!.!.!.!.that makes your chords sound weird as well as destructed!.!.!.

Dont hold it soo lightly, select a proper force according to your wrist force and not merely your finger tips!.!.That would help you!.!.!.!.also,see to it that you go to a good guitar store and select a perfect -sized guitar pick!.!.there are maany sizes available(size do not mean its length!.!.!.the actual size depends on the pick's thickness thats mentioned in the bottom of some picks!.!.!.!.for e!.g!. 6 mm or something like that!.!.!.)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I saw Johnny Cash drop his in front of an audience of a couple of a million, on nation-wide TV once!. It didn't faze him!. He kept singing and let the side men strum, reached into his pocket, pulled out a second pick and started playing!.

This won't help you keep your grip, but it may help you keep your cool!. Put six or eight extras in your pocket if you ever perform before an audience!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There is a little adjustment from acoustic to electric of course!. I suggest fooling around with different strengths of holding the pick so that it doesn't fall out of your hand!. Eventually youll get the right strength for the acoustic!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Maybe a thicker pick, for a better hold!.!.!.or go ghetto and duct tape the pick to your fingers, lol!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
