Question: Need help with life!!?
I am 21 and found guitar randomly back when i just turned 20!. I have been paying for lessons on and off for the past year, but it costs about $100 per 4 lessons, once a week for 30 mins each!. I usually take the lessons like every other month since I do not have much money!. I am currently in the process of getting a job, and I dont know if I should keep paying for them or not, I do want to play and learn more guitar, but its not very easy to learn off a website or book compared to having a real teacher!. What should I do!? I am also thinking of trying to make a carrer out of playing guitar, and I've been very dedicated, and looking to play at some random venue soon!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm a failed guitarist because I didn't practice and, unlike you, wasn't dedicated but I do known that once you've learned the basics, and you must have by now if you've been having lessons for almost a year, all you need now is practice, practice, practice - and experience, which you'll get as you keep playing!.

If you have access to You Tube, search "guitar tips" and you'll come up with things from experienced players which might help!.

Find jam sessions where you can watch and play with other guitarists!. Stay dedicated and best of luck - you'll make it one day :-)Www@QuestionHome@Com

is right my son taught himself with books and from the net and is now playing in a pub!. He has been told that he should recorded his own song and music that he has written!.
If you know the basics then you should be able to do it with out a teacher!. Just keep at it
may God bless youWww@QuestionHome@Com

From what you've described, you really haven't given the lessons a fair shot!. If you can't afford to take them (weekly) consistently, then you're throwing your money down a black hole!. Wait until you get a job, then budget in the lessons and attend them faithfully!. In the long run, you will spend fewer years in training and get a whole lot further in a shorter length of time!. In the meantime, you can still practice, learn chords and scales and research the many, many guitar sites on the net!. It never hurt anyone to learn as much as they possibly can about their instrument of choice!.

Good luck!
