Question: Why do people say opera singers have the voices of angels!?
I honestly would like to know this because I am an opera singer (soprano, classically trained) & my dream is to sing at the Met one grand evening!. If not, then maybe I can just be a voice teacher!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

(it's Kiri Te Kanawa!.!.!.!.)

I don't really know, but I guess it's because opera singers have such excellent technique that they sound effortless when singing, and probably also because their voices fill the whole theatre without microphones!. It sounds amazing to people who are used to listening to pop and rock!. There's a certain refined quality about it!. When I listen to great classical singers (classically trained, not necessarily opera singers), I often get shivers down my spine, but I've yet to see other genres do that to me!.

Good luck for your career! I hope I'm capable of being a concert singer too (I won't say 'opera' because I don't know if my voice has operatic potential), in the future!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Most likely because opera singers have to be talented, in general!. Not everyone can sing opera, so it sounds amazing to people not used to it, I guess!. Good luck with your career!Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you are what you say then you should know, listen to a recording of Maria Callas singing O My Beloved Father or Kiri Katarnawa singing the song!. Then you would hear the angelsWww@QuestionHome@Com

This reference to angels is not only due to their literal voice but due to the connection of Opera and the church!. Much of the early opera music is related to religion and is meant to be music sent to the heavens, hence angels!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
