Why are there Renaissance Fairs?

Question: Why are there Renaissance Fairs!?

I've seen tons of Renaissance Fairs all over the country, but I've never seen a Baroque Fair or a fair celebrating any other time period!. Why the infatuation with the Renaissance!? I went to one of the fairs when I a little kid and it was fine, but it wasn't really awesome or anything!. What's the big deal!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

There are faires for other time periods, such as medieval and Dickens faires!.

The Renaissance was a romantic time period!. It marked a, well, renaissance in arts, science, medicine, and religion!.

But more to the point, renaissance fairs have proven themselves successful, so they're less of a financial risk than, say, a Feudal Japan Faire!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
