This very famous flute work is great for auditions - although it show primarily fast technique, and not much that is lyrical!. It DOES need long phrases, and therefore excellent breath control!. I tell my students that the PURITY of their tone affects the longevity of the phrase - if your tone is no really pure, then that LEAKING air in the fuzz is air you will WISH YOU HAD at the end of the phrase!. So - long tones first, like Taffanel exercises!. You also, obviously, need really clean double-tonguing - there is NO WAY you survive this with single tongue! You work *chunk* exercise on the b minor scale - TKTKtaaaaa; TKTKtaaaa; Gradually increase the TKTKTKTKTKTtaaaaa - this wil keep clarity while building endurance!. It is EXCEEDINGLY difficult to give specific and important playing advice over the Net - Halllooo!?!? I can't hear you play! But ai hope that the above has helped you a little bit!. Good luck with the audition - it sound like it is tuition for a year of half-hour lessons (I get that amount for 35 lessons in a school year)!. I hope you are working with a private teacher already - of not, then this should be a bog boost for you!Www@QuestionHome@Com

try not to overload on caffine it messes with ur head
and think about battling ninja cats right until you
start playing
but dont laugh they will think u have mental problemsWww@QuestionHome@Com

Be sure to take deep breaths and don't evaluate yourself as you play!. I know this piece, and have also used it for an audition!. Just have fun with the piece and don't think about the judges in the room!. Wishing you the best!Www@QuestionHome@Com

What I always did was just pretend I was alon in my room practicing it!. That way there was no pressure and I could just have fun with the piece!. Just relax and (this sounds corny) but feel the music!.

GOOD LUCK!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

This is a really famous piece for flutes!. I've played it before, and I think that for this song, you should one (this is just in case you're not doing it already) double tongue!. Instead of the usual T tongue, you do TA KA TA KA or DE GA DE GA (TA KA TA KA is harder and DE GA DE GA is smoother)!. also, avoid airiness and open up the throat as if there were an apple or an orange there!.

Now for mentally preparing, think "I think I can"!. It works!. Physically, wear comfortable clothes!.

Good luck on the audition!Www@QuestionHome@Com
