I don't know anything about Behringer guitars but just knowing that Wal-Mart sells them leads me to think its not a very good instrument!.

Wal-Mart's big selling point is that they sell at lower price points than anybody else -- and the way they do that is by constantly pressuring their suppliers to cut costs and lower the prices that Wal-Mart pays them for their goods!. This means that suppliers are under a lot of pressure to use the least-expensive materials and cut labor costs -- first by manufacturing overseas in countries like China, and secondly by speeding up the manufacturing process to make it more efficient -- building more guitars per day by spending less time on each instrument!.

Cheap materials + less time spent on construction and assembly = unplayable instruments

Plus, as another poster has noted, the guitar comes prepackaged in a box with an amp (also no doubt built in China out of cheapest possible components and hurry-up-get-it-done-ASAP labor) and peripherals like an amp cord and so on -- so you can't try out the guitar, or even look at it, before you buy it!.

And if they're slapping these things together in the minimal amount of time to keep costs down, they're not going to take the time to set up the guitar (adjust the neck angle, tweak the truss rod just so, make sure the bridge is properly adjusted, etc) so that it plays well, before they package it!.

Overall, I would tell you not to bother wasting your money on this GSO (guitar shaped object) - you will not be happy with the way it sounds or plays, it most likely won't stay in tune very well, and you'll get frustrated with it and quit!.

If you really want to learn guitar, wait, save a little more money, and then go to a REAL music store, like Sam Ash or Guitar Center, and get a Squier, an Ibanez, or an Epiphone!. Expect to spend about $200-250 on a guitar/amp combination pack from one of these manufacturers!. You'll get a decent starter guitar that will have been properly set up before it was put out on the sales floor, and you'll be much happier with your purchase!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

well i never played that one
but how much is your price ranger!?
if you go to

www!.musiciansfriend!.com

they have alot of musical stuff
that have squier starter kit its made by fender
they have some ibanez starter packs
and some epiphone ones
but i started on the squier
and it honestly was good when your learning but after like 6 months you find out how bad it is
i never played the ibanez one but i heard it was goodWww@QuestionHome@Com

What I don't like about those is that they're packaged in a way that you can't check the instrument!. Is it in tune!? Is the neck straight!? Is the action too high!? If some of these things are not correct your going to struggle!. I found a cheap guitar on eBay and the action was so high it was hardly playable, so I returned it!.

I suggest a good guitar shop with experts if you are serious about playing!. For $100 you should be able to get a good starter guitar, with Walmart you might save some $$ but end up with a lot of frustration!.

Behringer guitars are not good for beginners for a couple of reasons!. A) They are extremely cheap because of extremely bad material!. B) Sharp frets (This is bad because of sliding, you'll understand that technique later)!. and C) Bad electronics (its wiring sucks)!. Oh and another thing, don't buy from Wal-mart, I have doubts about buying instruments from Wal-mart!. If you want to get a good beginner guitar get this:

http://www!.guitarcenter!.com/Epiphone-Les!.!.!.

Epiphone guitars tend to make good guitars for beginners (I started out on a Gibson Les Paul, but Epiphone is its sub-brand so you can trust it), AND, it comes with everything: The amp, strap, picks, tuner, case, and an instructional video!. Since you are a piano player, the only thing being a piano player will help is reading notes, and knowing the sound of notes!. You need to develop calluses, better finger movement (guitar finger movement is alot different than the piano's finger movement), and picking!. Well, hope this helps =DWww@QuestionHome@Com

1!. don't buy guitars from walmart, costco and the like
2!. try not to buy guitars in starter packs because you can't check them out before you buy them
3!. same goes for buying guitars online, it's better if you can inspect it first

when i got my first guitar (Ibanez GRX20) i went to a local guitar shop and told them my budget, music preference, and asked to see all of the guitars in my price range!. trust me, it's a lot easier with help, they'll show you the ropes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

well, i hate walmart guitars, they dont have that great of sound, but they do work for beginners,,,,, i dont really like the way they look, but its all ur preference!. ive been playing guitar for 3 years now, i started on a squier statocaster, there pretty cheap and sound good too, with a good amp of course, go to zzounds!.com and look at that site, hope i helpedWww@QuestionHome@Com

LISTEN TO MY QUESTION!.!.ITS NOT LONG BUT ITS TRUTHFUL COMING FROM A REAL GUITAR PLAYER
Never buy a guitar from walmart!.!.!.its flat out crap!. My first guitar was an ibanez starter pack!. It comes with an amp, chord, tuner, guitar, picks, and dvd and other stuff!. Yea, 250 is a lot more than 100, but you'll be happy that you waited to save enough dough to buy the ibanez becuase it'll last a long time and always maintain a good sound!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You can't go wrong at that price but don't expect miracles or something spectacular!.
If you add another $100, you can get the Fender squier combo which comes with the amp, tuner and everything else!. The difference is that the playability and ease of the fender is much much better !.Www@QuestionHome@Com
