Question: Whats a better instrument, Flute or Violin!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Flute because with violins they can either sound absolutely terrible or amazing and 90% of the time it sounds awful !! Go for the flute as it is easy to pick up and I can guarentee none of your friends will understand how u play it and they'll al think ur amazin ;]Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm not sure that one is "better" than the other!. Each has its own beauty!. But I do think that violin is a more versatile instrument than flute!. Though flute solos are common in orchestral music, the bedrock of the orchestra is the violin section!. Violins also figure prominently in chamber music, such as string quartets, piano trios, etc!. also, composers seem to have preferred writing concertos for violin, cello, and piano over flute, for which there are relative few concertos (though some nice ones)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Wrong question!. Which is the better instrument for you!? That is the question!. Try both and determine which one suits your ear, your temperament, your combination of hand to eye coordination and embrochure!. Both instruments are well suited for what they were designed for, but nobody, except possibly your local directors, which instrument you are best suited for and in the end what really matters is which instrument inspires you! Try a flute, try a violin, and either make a choice or learn to play them both!. Their clef is complimentary and it never hurts to know two instruments! Best of luck no matter what you decide!. By the way, lung power is another factor here as well!. You have to have a good strong clear airway to produce a good sound on the flute!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree with the other comments that one is not better than the other, its which one is better for you!. Both are very different instruments!. A violin is much more versatile than a flute and can be used in many more musical genres!. So, it really gets down to what your style is and what you hope to accomplish by learning either instrument!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Flute -a LOT easier!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Although I play flute, and not violin, I think the violin is more interesting instrument!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

you can't compare a woodwind with a string instrument!. If your asking what we prefer I'd say violin!. Its a very versitile instrument and very elegant!. You can play anything from classical to mariachi to country to r&b!. I've been playing since i was 6!. although if your looking for something easy to play try the fluteWww@QuestionHome@Com

A comment about the people saying the flute is easier!.

To learn any instrument at a very high level is extremely difficult!. Every instrument has it's own difficulties!. There are things that flute players have to think about that violin players don't, like breathing,(when to breath, how big a breath to take, learning to breath correctly, increasing lung capacity) and things violin players have to think about that flute players don't, like placing your finger in the exact right spot!.

Every instrument has hurdles!. It's just a matter of which one you personally like better!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It depends on if you like winds or strings better!. I prefer the violin which is why I play it but my secon choice was the flute!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I absolutely love the violin!. Although the flute is a beautiful instrument, the violin is so much more interesting, with many different variations on how to produce sound!. You have to decide for yourself which instrument you like better, but I would encourage you to choose the violin!.
Good luck, whichever you choose! =)Www@QuestionHome@Com

flute is easier
i think string instruments take more time!.!.!.for you to sound goodWww@QuestionHome@Com

Neither!. Bongos trump them both!. Groovy!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I play the flute and the viola!. The flute is easier to learn and you get results pretty quickly!. Any stringed instrument takes a little more work, but is very satisfying!.

I'd say that I like playing both equally!. It's up to you really!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have played both these instruments, and I believe there is not a "better" instrument; it is based on personal preference!. If you play the violin, you will probably get callouses on your fingers, and after playing it a while, it will hurt to write a little bit!. Trust me, this happened to me!. If you play the flute, it is hard at first because it takes a LOT of air!. I even passed out once (but it was on my bed, and nobody saw :] )!. After a while though (after about a month), you will be able to play very long without getting light-headed at all!. Hope this helps!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Flute!.!.!. violin is notoriously hard and they are both beautiful!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have been playing Flute for about!.!.!.10 years now, and I have to say I wish I had played the violin instead!. You can use it so much more, and there is a lot more music for it!.

I just picked up the mandolin a week ago which is the same tuning as the violin and I have to say, I definitely dig it compared to my flute!. I mean the only really cool things you can play on flute are old classical, California Dreaming, and Jethro Tull!.

Flute is easy to learn, violin may be a bit harder, but in the long run I vote violin!. :)Www@QuestionHome@Com
