Question: Would it be stupid if I got a solid electric guitar without an amp, to learn on!?
I want to get a Squier Bullet, but I can't really afford an amp right now!.

I'm about to start taking guitar lessons, but all I have right now is a kid's size acoustic guitar with about 10 frets on it!. It's kind of a piece of crap!.

so could I just get an electric w/o the amp, and have it still sound good!? or is that just stupid!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, the sound won't be too good, but it won't be stupid!. Try to see if you have a Freecycle around and check to see if they have amps!. Ebay also might have cheap ones!.
I was actually in the same position you were a few years ago!. I started out taking lessons with a cheap kids acoustic!. It was really had to learn on it!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sounds fine, just very quiet, with no amp!. also good for not annoying everyone around you!. The teacher probably has an amp you can use while at the lesson, so you'll get to hear yourself better there!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

thats not smart unless later on you buy an amp because that guitar you get will make baerley a noise and it's very light!. i would reccomendbuying an amp leter on like within a few weeks or else you just waisted ur money on a nice guitar with no sound!. or for now just buy a better acoustic guitar!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's all preference, I have a strat and use it without the amp all the time, I just like the cleaness of the tone!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Umm!.!. it would make it a bit more difficult!. Tell ya what, how about this!?!? How about you buy an acoustic that's about the same price as the "Bullet"!. Then, when you save enough to buy an amp (and a little bit more considering depreciation), Trade in the acoustic for the Bullet and pay for the amp!. Acoustic strings are harder to play, so when you do switch to electric, you'll be able to play a lot more proficiently!. And you'll be able to hear the acoustic when you practice!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You can get a set of powered headphones and plug directly into those!. You can also get a special USB cable that plugs directly into your computer so you can listen to the guitar through your speakers and even record yourself!. There is also a mini amp that plugs directly into the jack on the guitar and plays a tinny but plassible sound that you can listen to!. There are also Marchall, Gibson, Peavey and many other mini amps for about thirty to forty dollars!. The original Pignose amp is still being made and they even have a battery operated model!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

my friend has that but it is not really loud!.!.!. But it still has sound and will workWww@QuestionHome@Com

Its not a horriable idea!. I played bass for two weeks untell i was able to get a amp on a electric bass!. I would get the guitar If you thought you could get a amp within a couple months!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
