No, Sachs is writing about synesthesia, a neurological condition that causes people to "see" sounds, "smell" colors, and so forth!. The sensory inputs to the brain in these cases overlap a little, so you might hear music and at the same time see color-tints that correspond to the sounds, or you might look at a painting and smell or taste things that correlate to the colors or shapes!.

it's a medical condition!. some people see colours and shapes when listening to music, some people can 'taste' words, some people can even 'hear' colour!. it's something to do with signals getting mixed up in the brain!. it's quite rare!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
