Question: I've been playing an acoustic guitar for 2 months, and my fingertips are destroyed!.!.!.any tips on helping them!?
They are dried up and cracked!. They sometimes bleed!. I know that this is normal, but just wanted to see if there are any old trick from you guitar pros out there on speeding up the process!. I really miss playing, its been 2 days now!. I heard Clapton soaked his fingers in rubbing alcohol, but to me that sounds like it would dry the fingers even more!. Your tips and feedback are very much appreciated!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The only way to keep your callouses is to keep putting more callouses on top of them!. Martin Guitars even has a finger tip conditioner that is designed to put callouses on your fingers!.

When your fingers hurt, you have to just keep playing because if you stop, then you will have it all to do again!.

When you are not playing!.!.!. at least just sit with your guitar in your lap and press your finger tips on the strings!.!.!. go for one minute and then rest than another minute and rest and that will work almost as well as playing!. You can do this all night long while your are watching TV!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You want the calluses, they will help toughen your fingertips and make playing a lot easier!! Just live through it for now it will go away!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm pretty sure I just kept playing as much as the pain would let me!. The problem doesn't last long!. Your fingertips will be made of leather before you know it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

are you gonna argue w/ clapton!? man up, you'll get thru it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Congratulations!. You can stop saying "I've been playing an acoustic guitar" and you can start saying "I am a guitarist"!.
This is what it takes to be good!. I've been playing for most of my life, and the only times I improved my skills was to play until my fingers bled!.
You don't want to speed up the process (I take it you're talking about healing)!. Callouses are your friend!.
BTW, real guitarists learn on acoustic, not electric!. Work those scales, and you'll knock the socks off an electric player, trust me!Www@QuestionHome@Com

If your fingertips are cracked and bleeding, you are not getting enough moisture to them!. There is a product that you can pick up at any farm supply shop, called "Udder Balm!." You can also use any product that treats dry cracked feet!. You should also ask your physician next time you are there anyway!. You may have a skin condition that is being exacerbated by the stress of pushing down the strings!. I have psoriasis, which affects my playing now and then!. It also pretty much rules out playing with fingernails!. It doesn't stop me from playing however, and it shouldn't stop you!. Forget about all the nonsense about playing till it hurts as if it were some rite of passage!. Take care of yourself so you actually look forward to playing, rather than toughing it out!. LEt your fingertips heal up, moisturize them daily, and then gradually go back to playing a few minutes more everyday, until your callouses are built up properly!. Best of luck no matter what you decide and I hope this helps!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

just use a coin 2 strum!. i know that sounds simple, but really, ur fingers wouldn't be touching the strings that way!.
