Question: What will it take to become a pro flute player!?
I was thinking of becoming a pro flute player! I don't know if i'm qualified though! I have started playing the flute 2 years ago!. Whenever there is a solo that I could do for a concert, I go for it! I have done a solo two times so I proved that I can play the flute in front of the whole world (or just, 800!.!.!.900 people!) Whenever I have to practice, I practice as much as I can! The hardest song that I have played was "Can Can" ! But, I am determined to do better and harder songs! My mom was thinking of getting me a private teacher!. Would that help!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you're serious about becoming a professional flute player, private lessons with a good teacher are essential, I think!. If you want to become a classical flutist and play with a professional orchestra or chamber group, you will almost certainly have to attend a music conservatory or college-level music program as a Music Performance major!. But flute is a very popular instrument, and there are a lot of VERY talented players out there who will be in competition with you for those jobs!. Many professional musicians teach private lessons on the side; would you be willing to do that!? Or maybe you could consider majoring in Music Education and teaching music in the school system!.

Another possibility would be to consider joining or forming a band to play rock or jazz or folk music, or form a duo with a piano player, or a guitar player, or a harpist, to play local gigs like weddings and other events that need background music!. If you're good enough, and versatile enough to be able to play a variety of different styles of music and know how to improvise, that might be a good way to make money as a flute player without the intense competition of trying to get one of the few jobs in a professional orchestra!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
