No, any authentic Gibson is made in the USA!. Epiphone is a subsidiary of Gibson Co!. and their products are lower end replicas that are made in China!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

According to this page from their website it seems that they only use China as a manufacturing base for their cheaper upright pianos: http://www!.gibson!.com/allaccesspress!.asp!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

They were in all likelihood referring to an Epiphone guitar, which is manufactured in China and marketed and distributed by Gibson!.

I believe that Gibson makes its acoustics in Bozeman and their electrics elsewhere (Nashville!?)!. I have never played a Gibson acoustic that I liked!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
