you have to have some sort of an instrument that is making the notes!. usually it is either a keyboard or a guitar!. when you stick the tube in your mouth, you are just altering the frequencies (which makes it seem like the instrument is talking, hense the name "talkbox")

ex!. of keyboard talkboxers - daft punk, t-pain

ex of guitar talkboxer - peter frampton

I've only heard them called a voice-box!. I had one once, many years ago!. You must feed a (amp out) signal into the box - there is a (50nwatt) speaker in the box!. Your mouth is used only to form the sound, not make it!. A plastic tube sends the sound into your mouth, then you shape the sound as if you had made it, using your tongue and lips as usual!. You tape the tube next to a microphone and the microphone picks up the sound as usual!. If you mouth some words without making sound you will have the idea!.
Edit: In other words you always use a microphone - you cannot use your voice alone!. E-mail me if you don't understand!.
I just googled it and see I was calling it by the wrong name!. I can't remember the brand on it!.
Heil was original manufacturer Dunlop is now manufacturing it to original specs!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
