Question: I play the viola, and i need a level 2 nyssma solo before May 28, 2008!. HELP!!!?

my teacher recommended a level 2 nyssma solo piece for me, but i don't like the song she gave me!. its really boring and flat!. does anyone know a level 2 nyssma solo that is upbeat!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I am a NYSSMA judge!. Local music stores usually do not keep the listings around, unless they are a MAJOR supplier in NY state - like Hickey's in Ithaca!. You cannot access the Manual online - it is for sale ONLY to NYSSMA members (teachers)!. If you do not like what your teacher gave you, then ask for something else; it was probably chosen for you according to your ABILITY!. Make sure that your scales are perfect - you need to know 7, and the judge picks three at your level!. Again, your teacher will tell you about octaves, tempo, bowing, etc on your scales!. You really cannot do this without your teacher - and trying to something behind he back is NOT going to work!. Talk to her right away!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Your music store should have a list of NYSSMA solos and should be able to lead you to a whole slew of them!. If you look on the NYSSMA website, they may have a list there as well!. They put out a new book every three years and it costs about fifty bucks to buy one, so not everybody has one!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
