Question:I was asked to sing in a local pageant this weekend. I can sing pretty well, but my stage presence isn't that great.

I'm singing Only Hope by Mandy Moore and my dance class is dancing behind me while I sing.

Does anyone have any tips to help my stage presence?

Step out and OWN that stage, OWN that audience and everything will be great. So what do I mean by "owning" it? I mean you have the mind set that you literally own the stage - you ARE the show. People have come to hear you and they're going to love it. You "own" the audience by having the mindset of a leader. You are going to lead that audience through the story of your song and they will follow you. You are going to paint a picture with your voice for the audience. And do what comes natural - just paint a picture with your music. Save the nervous breakdown until after the performance - you do what I suggest and you won't have time to think about a nervous breakdown until afterward anyway. Hope this helps and good luck!

wear bright colors nad do something crisp and clean with your hand movements so that you stand out a bit more...have a very expression filled face if possible

smile as much as possible, look confident, dont lock your knees. and you will be great!

Pretend you are in the shower and the guy you really like is standing outside the window listening.

Have fun, dont worry about the crowd, when you look at them pretend to be a snake charmer and draw them in with a big smile and gracefule movements....

You do fine!

When you sing, don't directly look at your audience. Find a spot above them- it sounds weird but it will look right. Don't look at your toes and stand straight.

Start CENTER STAGE with a cordless mike or make sure your mike cord can go the lenght of the front of the stage! Slowly walk and look at the audience, focus projecteting to the Forth row as you walk to stage RIGHT. In betwen you could stop for emphathy toward a lyric line. Come back following the directed path with still looking out and projecting. Stop CENTER STAGE pause and procede to stage LEFT, repeat from what you did stage right. Come back and finish the song CENTER STAGE and bow!

Try to keep eye contact with as many people as you possibly can in the audience because then the audience will feel an emotional connection to you.

Practice if front of the mirror to see what you actually look like while singing. You my be surprised. If it is bad, you can fix it, if it is good you will have more confidence. Also, believe what you are singing. If you don' t the audience can tell. Also, with your dance class behind you, chances are, the audience will have plenty to watch and will not be only watching you. You will be great! =)

Confidence goes a long way for stage presence - even if you're not feeling so confident.

Most importantly- have fun and good luck!! :)
