talk to the band director at your school and see if he can lend you an oboe. if he does, go out and buy an Oboe beginners book and ask him to stay after school for a few days to teach you the basics. practice hard and maybe you can switch sections in your band class.. good luck

do whatever you want... just to tell you, oboes are expensive and the reeds are like $10 apiece.

i play the oboe and want to play the flute the oboe SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The oboe and flute require two different embouchures that likely won't go too well with playing both flute and oboe where really good embouchures MUST come into play for you to get a good sound.

In fact I wouldn't recommend any other instrument to double in, unless it requires only hands, like the piano.
Maybe an alto sax wouldn't be so bad either.

then do it. why does it even matter if your 12? just play the freakin oboe
