Question:I'm going to a symphony performance tonight
and I was wondering if a white skirt that goes above the knees is suitable for this?
I don't want to be rude or... unfitting...
thanks

Perhaps a longer skirt would be best. It would be nice if you had a long flowy skirt, maybe black.

Black would be a definite good color for a symphony performance.
Too much color is too distracting and it's kind of a faux pas.

My daughter played in the symphony for years. Black is best and preferably long. No one will say anything to you either way, it's all a matter of what you are most psychologically comfortable with.

If you are in the audience, that sounds fine. Have fun!

yeah, you're not performing so that's good. As long as you don't look like you're heading to a club!

It's not clear if you are a performer or an audience member:

PERFORMER: black is always best. Pants or long skirt. Nothing distracting. No low cut shirts.

BUT as a Viewer of the concert, not a performer---Don't worry too much: avoid incredible short skirts (like shorter than mid-thigh) and slightly longer skirts are generally more comfortable when one is sitting in a theater seat for an extended period of time. You may have to pass by people already seated at to get to your seat if you sit in the middle of the row, so try to wear clothing that allows for movement and won't show things you'd rather not expose if you are very very close to someone. Color doesn't matter, just avoid dressing entirely in black or you'll be mistaken for one of the musicians. :-)

Mostly, just enjoy the concert. Look nice but be comfortable.
