Position:Home>Performing Arts> My acoustic guitar sounds like crap!!?

Question:I have changed the strings, and they are nice strings not some Wal -mart stuff. They are Martin strings. The guitar is in tune, I check it everytime I start to play. But when I play it, it sounds bad. If I play a high chord, like a D or something that uses just the bottom strings it doesn't sound too too bad, but when I play say a G or E, it sounds horrible. I keeps ringing and I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what is wrong. I can take it to a shop, but I would still like to know what it may be??

There could be damage to the neck or bridge. The only way to really know is head to a guitar center or some other guitar store and have them check it out. People rarely have problems with fenders because they are high-quality guitars. Hope you get it fixed.

you didnt mention what kind of guitar it is so I will assume it is a decent guitar,
So you need to see if the neck is bowed.
Check the pitch of the open string then the same string at the 12th fret. If the pitchs are not one octave apart, then you have a bowed neck. If that is the case you need a new guitar.

Did you buy a different gauge or are they the same size? Try stretching your strings.
