Question:Would this be a good guitar for me (a beginner) to get?
I am going to buy an acustic guitar (i am a beginner), do you think that this would be a good starter-pack? Is there anywhere else that has similar packs for cheaper? Is this guitar going to be good for a beginer?

Yes, I like the Yamaha for beginners, in fact that's what I recommend to my students......the only thing that I don't like is that your not getting it in a music store.....the Guitar Center has these packages....I like the student to play the guitar before buying.....how do you know if the sound and action is what you want.....In the guitar store you can sit for hours and try them all out....( that is all the Yamaha's that are in your budget)....All guitars have a little different sound and action....and in order to see what suites you you have to play them.....you can take any purchase home for thirty days, and if when you get it home you decide that you don't like the sound you can return it.....I've done this twice....guitars sound different in the store then they do at home, the acoustics are different. Well good luck to you.

definitaly a great guitar 2 lurn on

Since you didn't mention the type of guitar you are looking at or the price, it would be difficult to tell you if you are getting a good deal. However, after playing guitar for 40 years, I would highly recommend that you start on a classical accoustic guitar. That is the kind I learned on and they are good for several reasons. First of all they have a wider neck which makes placing your fingers on the correct strings easier. Also they do not have metal strings (which can be really hard on your fingers when you are learning), they have either plastic or cat-gut (sounds awful but oh well), which aren't hard on your fingers. When I was first learning to play guitars with metal strings I would end up with bruised and blistered fingers. Later, if you choose, you can get either an electric or accoustic with metal strings when you are better at placing your fingers on the strings, and also by then the tips of your fingers will develop calouses, which protect your fingers from getting so sore.

Yes Because your not an expert so you don't need and expensive one !

Buying a guitar is a personal thing. The reason there are so many brands and models is that there are so many different guitarists with different tastes and styles. So you need to know how to find the right guitar for you.

Go to a really good music store that has lots of different brands and try out all of the ones in your price range--and also some that are a little above your price range. Take along a knowledgeable friend if you have one.

Even if you don't know how to play well, you can get a sense of how the guitar feels--and feel is important, you will enjoy playing much more if your left hand loves being wrapped around the neck, if your right arm drapes comfortable over the body, if your left fingers can reach all strings easily and your right hand naturally comes down on the strings near the center of the body, where you want to hit them.

Now get the friend or a sales clerk to play each feel-good guitar (same tunes on each) while you turn your back--the ones that sound best then are the ones you want.

Now, acoustics are not absolutely consistent--two guitars of exactly the same model will sound different due to variability in wood grain, manufacturing tolerances, and other factors. So the one that sounds good is the very one you want--the display model--don't accept "new in box from the storeroom" because it may not sound as good. Don't be afraid of scratch-n-dent models (if you play enough, you'll scratch and dent them even more) or used if the store offers a warranty.

It comes with a guitar, tuner and instructional DVD. That's all you need really.

Have fun.
