For a first effort I think you did just fine. Am not familiar w/that song so I listened to it for a comparison. You have similar vocal characteristics to Bryan Adams. Perhaps you were unconsciously trying to sound like him when you sang it, instead of sounding like YOU. Keep going with the singing - if you really want to sing you should do it. Don't worry about criticism from anyone but a vocal coach, k? There's an old saying "Those who sing once, pray twice."

Agreed. :) No offense, but as previously stated, you should look into lessons if you are wanting a positive response. With proper vocal training, I don't think it would be that bad...
