Generally the French Horn is more difficult to learn, but the trombone can be a challenging instrument to march with. I don't know how old you are or how big your are. You have to have arms long enough to reach 7th position (slide far extended) on the Trombone. Facial hair can make the Trombone a little trickier too. Which ever you go with, you may want to invest in an acrylic or other non-metal mouth piece. Much friendlier for cold weather playing...

Good luck

The trombone is easier because it requires less delicate embouchure control, so it's easier to get the notes you want out of the horn and learn to control it. It's also fun because you play lower and louder!

Have fun!

I learned trumpet and trombone, and I found trumpet easier. It was the slide that made trombone a bit more challenging, so I would say go for the french horn.

Play heaps, its great fun and you learn some great skills. :)

it all depends on you and how good you are. like some time it is your lip that let you play some insterments and not others

if you are attracted to low brass, why not consider baritone or tuba? (no slide, easier to play than horn or bone)

trombone is wonderful and versatile, horn is more demanding because of embouchure and range.

The french horn requires a lot more control and such.
Also, you don't march french horns. You march mellophones.

Most band teachers will tell you that the two most difficult instruments to play are the french horn and oboe. My daughter is in her second year of french horn and loves it, though. She has a lot of natural talent with music, though, and picked this instrument up much easier than most students do. It does require a second instrument for marching, though.
