Get a couple of books dude......
If you go to chapters they have a lot of great books for teaching yourself,,,, There's probably a Bass for Dummies ... check it out,,, those books are usually pretty good.....

the best way would be to get the latest version of Guitar- Pro.
this is a software which helps you to learn to play guitar(acoustic+bass+any other kind available)....its very helpful...but it would be good if you would first download from google the basic chords and learn the strumming patterns...
