Question:so i have no idea what french horn i should get. should it be a double or single? i'm just starting out and im playing in my high school band. does anyone know what kind i should get?

I minored in F horn in college, and yes, a double horn is the best choice--tho' a good single horn for a beginner might be a good idea, you won't be playing such advanced stuff as to need the double horn for a while.

It's important to stick with a decent brand name. Conn, Blessing, Holton, Getzen, maybe an older King. Olds... There are dealers who will offer you a no-name instrument from China or an off-brand like Cecilio or Maxtone; you should be wary of such instruments, they'll play OK but they may have cheap manufacturing or parts that will fall apart after a few years.

I would suggest a double horn. They are a bit more money, but it makes it easier to hit the high notes and the low notes. Actually, it's just easier to play.
