Question:OK so I was getting really exhausted with my flute lessons, with like so many reports and projects due in the next few months that are so big, and so I gave my instrument teacher this note, saying why I had no time to practice, and he got like all ticked off. I don't know what I did, or how seriously he took the note, but it seems that if all I did was give him a note to give me consideration for the next few weeks so I can catch up on my project, then I learned what wasn't sentimental to the other kids because I was in the highest level of flute, I don't see what he's mad or ticked about. Also itn wasn't an elective class, just a basic extracurricular class I wanted to take 3 years ago. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get kicked off soon so is there anything I could tell him to explain? Thanks.

If you want you can to know what I wrote down on the letter email me at kiara_tiara90@yahoo.com
(I can't post it down here cuz it won't fit). Anyway again thanks

It sounds like you considered the problem seriously and approached your teacher appropriately. The only thing I can think of that might have made him upset is the wording, or it might be his expectations for you vs. your expectations. If he is under the impression that you intend to major in music, the note would be far more upsetting than if you BOTH understand that flute playing is strictly a pleasure activity.

Teachers are often disappointed to loose serious, eager, talented students and that's probably why he is upset. If you make it clear that you are not quitting, but simply taking a break, he'll feel better. Also, try to give him an approximate date of when you intend to resume lessons.

Best of luck.

if you were at the highest level then i can see why he'd be mad, you should have talked to him yourself but you didn't do anything wrong.

I think you did the right thing. You need your education first. Are you going to make much money in this life playing the flute without an education? I don't think so. If your teacher can't see this, than I don't think that he is much of a teacher. As far as I can see , you did the right thing.
