Position:Home>Performing Arts> My son is great in art.very handsome..he wants to play the guitar.how much are l

Question:I am a guitarist myself and I have to say that I never payed for lessons. Personally I think that it is not required. If money is a problem, you really shouldn't pay up for lessons that aren't necessary. What you can do is find some free online lessons. I have used those and I learned so much when I was just starting out. You can use YouTube, but watch the videos yourself first to see if they are good ones. Playing the guitar is something that requires a LOT of patience and practice. If he is focused and determined then he should be fine. It is really a great hobby, Good Luck =^)

i took guitar lesson for $16 for a half hour session, but that was two years go.

just buy him one of those books that teach guitar at any book store, it looks like a magazine , it's pretty cheap and thats how one of the jonas brothers got started too

I taught myself to play with a book of pictures of the chords when I was 15. Nowadays they have videos with instructions so you can learn. If he's interested in playing he will teach himself, and after awhile if he's shown a love and an aptitude for it, then you can let him have lessons from a professional.

The cost for private lessons on any instrument can vary greatly. The area you live sometimes determines that..... more "culturally aware" areas may see higher rates due to higher demand and competition. The qualifications of the teacher make a big difference, too. You can expect to pay a lot more to a college professor than you would to a college student, for example. Just to give you an idea, though.... I live (and teach piano) in the DFW metroplex. I charge monthly, but my rates boil down to $25/hour. This seems to be pretty close, or slightly under, the market for an experienced teacher with a B.M. in Piano Pedagogy.

If you're not sure he will even enjoy guitar, you might "work up" to the highly qualified teacher. Let him take a year of lessons from a high school student who's been playing for 5 or 6 years. Then, if he seems to be picking it up ok, find someone with more experience to continue on with.

I'd highly recommend a year of piano before trying any other instrument, though.

What's being handsome got to do with playing the guitar? Just look at keith Richards

Now get him to check out:

let him learn for himself, don't push him into things, let him learn at his own pace, it takes a lot of concentration.

My little sister takes guitar lessons....it really depends on the person too....but they usually run from 18 dollars for half and hour to 36 dollars and hour. Check out the phone book, they will have many selections and will work with your price.
