Position:Home>Performing Arts> Mouth gets numb when I play trumpet?

Question:Its like after I warm up and stuff, and maybe play through 1 song, you can tell where the mouthpiece was on my lip because there is this big outline on my lips that's swollen. It usually takes about 30 min to go down. But whats causing this and what can I do to prevent it?

Causing it the the pressure that you apply on your mouth/lips from buzzing against the mouthpiece. Don't press your trumpet too hard to your mouth and ask your teacher or whoever supervises you if your embouchure is correct. During rests, breaks, or after you practice, just keep your lips slightly together and blow through your mouth to kinda get your lips to flutter, this help the swelling go down faster and gets them to normal quicker. Hope I was of help.
