Position:Home>Performing Arts> I am performing Juliet's death scene... how does one react to stabbing yours

Question:I do not know what it feels like to stab yourself in the heart. Since I will be playing Juliet in the death scene from Shakespeare's ROMEO AND JULIET (and just the death scene) I sort of need to know this.

If there is a doctor or or any other Juliets out there who have a good guesstimate of what it would be like, I would like to know to make the death scene as realistic as possible.

I already know I need to stab myself in the heart since it would take upwards of thirty minutes of bleeding to death if I stabbed myself anywhere else. I would just like a good estimation of time it would take to pass, how it would feel, etc.

Thank you!

Focus on the anticipation BEFORE you stab yourself. . . this will be interesting and REAL for your audience to watch. They will FEEL your pain more if they experience the before with you.

Then stab yourself like you've just been socked in the stomach.

Painful

look pale like you life was just taken
make your self feel like your in a blur and slowly close your eyes with a gasp

You really don't need the details...just imagine being hit in the chest. Imagine the way your body would react towards the blow.

I stabbed myself once (on accident) and my whole body ran cold. Ice cold. I really can't say what my face looked like but I am sure that my mouth was open a little with shock. My mind would not accept that a knife was in my body. I hope that is a little help.

Pretend to be frail, limp then fall.
