I'm from America and I've heard people in the UK say to just talk slow, haha.

Anyway it really depends on what kind of American accent.
There are three "main" ones that my friends have, (none od these are official titles, it's what my friends & I say) and that's Country, Northern & "Normal", mine is "normal" at least my friends say, lol.

That's a video of me talking. I'm from California and people say I sound like it.

That's some random lady I found online with a Southern accent, and remember if you do a Southern accent to say "Y'all"!! Which is pronounced "yahhull"

The host (Jay Leno) of that TV Show has a very faint Northerner accent. But if you can find any videos of someone from New York, New Jersey, or Philadelphia, the accents won't be the same but to someone from another Country they will sound similar.

Have fun!

I have an American Southern accent, which I try to hide when doing public speaking. To "sound normal" I try to pronunciate each word, and extent any vowels.
