How is a pinch harmonic preformed?

Question:Im am very aggrivated,ive watched videos on youtube,ive read it on the internet but no matter what i do i cant do a pinch harmonic.When i go to play the string with my pick and thumb nothing happens it comes out like a muted note,ive checked to see if my palm is accidently on the strings but its not,i just can not do it and tips,hints something??

Petr, first make sure just the tip of your pick is showing not the the whole pick so the pick feels stiff. 2nd make sure you are running plenty of distortion and volume it won't work clean, it might but not well. Next pick your note hard and just barely touch the edge of your thumb to the string. Start with our thumb not touching it at all then go closer and closer. It is hard to explain but once you hear what it takes you'll know. it came easier learning on the D string mid way up the neck. I pick down with pick at a angle. I use a 1.0 mm pick or heavier hope this helps
