Songs to sing for the Talent show?!!?

Question:I want to sing for my school's talent show and I am a really good singer (not to toot my own horn but TOOT TOOT) lol and i was wondering if any of ya'll had ideas for a song: i can sing high and semi-low but not too high. Any ideas...oh and this middle school we are talking about, a recent song thts popular would be good! lol

My friend and I were considering doing the Talent Show for a while, here was our list of ideas-
"Somebody to Love" (The Ella Enchanted version has good pitch, although the song is old)
"Accidentally in Love"- by the Counting Crows (It's a fun song that you can really get into)
"Ordinary Day- by Vanessa Carlton (a lot of her songs are good, and not too old...)
If you like Avril Lavign, "Innocence" and "When You're Gone" are good.
"Breathe"- by Michelle Branch is also a good pick.
I wouldn't pick a song that is TOO recent, because then everyone knows what it's SUPPOSED to sound like and will be judging your singing a lot harder. Also, check the song lyrics to make sure the song is appropriate so that you'll be allowed to sing it.
If you REALLY want to do a recent song, Love Song or Teardrops on My Guitar would be good...

One thing I'd avoid is anything too sexy or too old for you.
The judges don't like that in middle school for sure. Go for someone close to your own age and look. The closer to the real you you go the better your chances.

What about Love Song by Sarah Bareilles. THe song is recent, popular (but not sooo much) and the topic is not taboo for a school performance.

It's a great classic song. Unless you're at a catholic school. They might not appreciate it.

You sound like you have a similar range as me. I sing alot of martina mcbride songs or sugarland.. maybe their new song stay would be good for you? ... if you dont like country.. maybe pink, or avril levigne, or i sing cheryl crow. all of them have similar ranges. no matter what you sing though just make sure you have fun and perform it well!! hope i helped good luck!
