Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: If lead guitar is in standard, 1/2 step down or drop D tuning will bass and rhythm guitar be in the same tuning? Since the bass guitar has a regular tuning of E-A-D-G, making it going down to D (this is known as "scordatura"--or irregular tuning) would result in D-G-C-F......so it is a slightly different tuning......the upper 3 strings will have different notes than your 6-string guitar. Rhythm guitar notes when tuning drop D or 1/2 step down will have the same 1/2 down or drop D as the lead guitar. NO, that does not usually happen and is totally unnecessary. You are all still playing the same music in the same key . That is all that matters ; not who is using a special tuning. no...not the same tuning and not the same positions also. |
