I say stick with viola. The reason is that you will need a job and a big city orchestra is a fantastic reference. You will not lose your ability on the fiddle by being practical - it isn't like having to choose between a sport and music. Since you love fiddling, you will seek out opportunities to grow with it while enjoying yourself and, who knows, you may find yourself sharing your love of the fiddle as a member of the city orchestra. Many alternative musicians do indeed play with orchestras today.

Play the fiddle for yourself and the viola for your career. If your good at both do both. Being diverse is a very good thing.

You have to make a living ; you will not be living with your parents forever.

Choose the viola. You can continue to fiddle part time.

Fiddle.

If you don't like classical music, you certainly won't be happy making a career out of it. Play what YOU love.

Stick with both. Having both capabilities in your back pocket will open up more doors for you than choosing one over the other.

Continue to play both instruments. I'm wondering if you couldn't play the viola like you play the violin, that way if you chose to focus more on the viola, you could still continue to play what you love, only on a different instrument. Also, orchestras play more than just the "fancy stuff."

Maybe you will grow into 'that fancy stuff'...not many 15 year olds do like classical music. I was in the same boat, and now I play in an Orchestra for a job, and fiddle for 'fun'. Most important thing is to not rush into quitting anything and maybe regret it later in life. Pay attention to how each kind of music and instrument makes you feel, and follow your gut.

I don't mean this in a sarcastic way, but in an honest way: decide for yourself. You are the one who's going to have to live with your decision. It sounds like you enjoy fiddling more. In fact most fiddlers seem to enjoy their music much more than most classical musicians. For most fiddlers music is play and they have a good time at it, for many classical musicians it's work, and they don't enjoy it so much as the years go by. Look a players in their 40's, both fiddlers and professional viola players and see for yourself. That will be you in 25 years. Which would you rather be? Also, the job market for symphony players is super competitive; so competitive that it takes all the fun out of it. And once you get your symphony job there are hundreds of younger players who are looking to take it from you. The professional classical music world is not a happy place. The fiddle world is a happy place.
Good luck!
