Okay when u start off on guitar I would STRONGLY SUGGEST that u start with acoustic! acoustic is much harder than electric! so once u learn acoustic electric should be a lot easier. It also depends wut type of music that u like to listen to/play

My First acoustic was a Fender! AMAZING guitar i would suggest going to your local music shop and talk to the associates there( and also bring ur friend with you)

i buy Metal strings(they sound best on acoustic) I buy all of my strings at www.musiciansfriend.com best prices!

hope this helps!!!!

I got an electric Christmas '06 and still don't know how t play it. I seriously just found out how to tune it like last week. In music class we play acoustic with (nylon?) and thats way easier than electric with metal. But I think you should get an acoustic to start out with and learn the notes, scales and all that crap before you get electric. lol

ive been playing guitar 4 a loonngg time, and i started with an acoustic, then a year or two after that, when i was really good, i got an electric guitar! i would definitely start with an acoustic if i were you.

You need to know what you want, before you can decide.

If you want to sing along with your guitar playing, get an acoustic. They are a bit harder, but are more suitable for accompanying the human voice.

If you just want to play, get an electric. They are much more fun to play. I can't sing, so I play electric guitar instead.

You will only need nylon strings if you buy a classical guitar. Otherwise, you will need steel-core strings, for either an electric or an acoustic - each type of guitar demands a different style, acoustic needs specifically acoustic strings, electrics need electric strings. Ask in your local guitar shop.

I suggest you buy an electronic tuner and ask someone in the shop how to use it. It is simple to learn when someone shows it to you, but hard to explain in print.

Good luck!
