Most of us have a song playing inside of us that we use for our personal creative style. What drives you? What expresses you? If you already know then all you have to do is put in the time by combining notes with strumming and finger picking. This can be time consuming but very rewarding. If you would just like to learn simple and catchy songs then it's simple. Find a catchy song you like that seems simple to play on guitar then google the tabs for it. There are guitar tabs for every song out there so that won't be a problem. I could shoot you some pointers if you want to help on the basics like finger placing, plucking, strumming.. etc.. Google and search around. Theres gotta be some free programs that will help. Ive seen some a while back but I forgot what they're called. You will get it. Dont give up.

I've taught a couple of people, and the first question I ask them is "How bad do you want to learn to play?" It takes discipline and persistence to learn to play an instrument, but if you love it, you'll find a way. I don't know about you, but I remembered old familiar tunes and would figure out the chords so I could accompany myself when I sang. I got songbooks with the guitar chords over the sheet music to learn songs, and although I can't actually read music, I remembered how the song went enough to play the chords above the lyrics. Perhaps join a church or some other organization and make a friend who's a touch better than you and learn from them. The really hot players can sometimes be intimidating. Don't get discouraged! Your fingers will get sore until you grow some calluses. Also, take your guitars to somebody who can set them up right. That will make them easier to play and learning will be less frustrating.
