Position:Home>Performing Arts> How can I get my trumpet repainted?

Question:My mom bought me a trumpet a couple of years ago for christmas. It's purple and, she had bought it cheaply through a JC Penny catalog. It play sokay but, the paint has very chipped and I have looked around my area to have it repainted but, they won't take the brand of the instrument. It's a Harmony and I tried looking them up online to see if I could send it back to them to have it repainted. Does anybody else have any other ideas?

This is not a reputable brand, and music companies know that it will not SURVIVE being disassembled and repainted. Invest in a GOOD brand instead. Sell this one to a beginner - or make it into a lamp.

maybe klines if u have one in your area.

This is a very cheap instrument and is not worth having any work done on it. Buy another, better quality instrument.

Do not get a painted trumpet....go for brass or silver.

You can replace your horn for about $250, it would likely cost that much or more to have it re-lacquered. By the way brass instruments are lacquered, not painted--and there is a difference. If it really bugs you could re-lacquer it yourself. It takes time and you have to pay attention to details, but I re-lacquered one of my trumpets and I knew one guy who completely rebuilt his 50s Benge. Good Luck.
