Position:Home>Performing Arts> How do you cure stage fright?

Question:My guitar teacher went to a camp thing last summer and she learned the hormones released in your body that make you excited and the ones that make you nervous, are actually the same thing!! It's just your brain that decides whether or not you are nervous or excited. So before my recital in December, whenever I was nervous she'd say "No, you're excited!" and that actually helped me out a bit. Even though I thought I was nervous, I told myself I was excited to put a positive spin on it. So that's how I cure my stage fright now.
Hope this helps! Have a great day =]

Recognize that the audience will never know if you miss a line.

I think the only way to cure it is to keep performing. It just gets easier and easier. I used to sing in school and my Mom would sit in the very front so I could stare at her while I performed. It just got easier and easier to be up there until it was just second nature. Now that I'm older, I can perform anywhere in front of anyone. Good luck and believe in yourself!

You don't cure it. You turn the tables on it.

Don't view it as a negative but as a positive that your body is preparing you for battle by dumping adrenilin into your system. You just have to learn how to harness it then use it to your advantage.

My drummer and I use to shadow boxing befor a gig to blow off the excess and then just be "psyched" up to play. See? That's a positive. Years later I found out Sinatra and Ozzie did the same shadow boxing before a gig.

I

Before going on stage, tence all the muscles i your body and count to 10, then relax...keep doing this till you walk out on stage.

all you have to do is think that noone is in the area, then you wont have stage fright

You just beleive in yourself and have fun!

there is no cure, but things help. if you love acting/performing, you should be confident in what you do. dont ever look into the audience, unless you KNOW someone will be smiling at you with a warm face. things are always worse to the one who performs, human nature to self criticize.
