Position:Home>Performing Arts> How to play guitar in the beginning?

Question:Get lessons. At least a dozen sessions with a good teacher to correct the little basic mistakes that all beginners make. Once you have had your basic technique set right, you can choose to stop lessons and instead study on your own.

Cheapest place to find good guitar lessons: put a note on the bulletin board at the music department of a nearby college, hoping to land a guitar major. Failing that, go to a good music store.

If studying on your own, best is to buy lots of used books, cds and dvds from ebay or a used book store. You'll probably get some that are too advanced for you, but just store them for later and play the exercises that are within your grasp.

Beginners are best off if they practice several short times rather than one long time daily. Rather than practicing for one hour straight, try four 10-minute sessions. You'll make more progress and you'll avoid tendinitis and other fatigue-related maladies. After a couple of weeks, start increasing the time of one or more sessions, and keep increasing it a little bit each week--meanwhile eliminating some of the shorter sessions, one by one--until you have the experience and stamina to benefit from a full one-hour (or longer) practice.

Are you just starting to play guitar? If you are learn the notes, scales and chords. You can also just take lessons at a nearby music store.

Get a guide for beginners or perhaps enroll on a good music school or have your own private music teacher.
