Question:Roderick? I can't dream. I don't dream anymore. We would dream so vividly, Roderick. Do you remember the way we would dream together? I would have trouble telling them from the real thing. I would give anything for that feeling again. Some of them were horrible... oh, God... some of them were nightmares... but they were just dreams. And because they were dreams... and because we were together... always together... they didn't scare me. Isn't that right? You were always there with me... weren't you? During those dreams? We were dreaming together. I wasn't alone. I wasn't in control. Sometimes, it all mixes together... and I have trouble remembering what were the dreams.. and what were the things that really happened. Isn't that funny?

(She stops suddenly.) I'm dreaming now... I'm not? How can you be sure?

DO I walk around. sit and look scared and dreamy. stand up? please help!

umm wait wats going on exactly? is she schokedd abotu roderick??
if so, i think she should stand up right away when she sees him, with big eyes.and smile like rlly big. but then sit back down, sadly, and keep on talking.
i dont think you really need to move hte body so much for this. it seems like its more about the tone of voice and face expressions.
you know, smile whenever you're talking about Roderick, and then stop smiling to be scared if you're reliving the horrible nightmares, or the fact that you cant dream.....
but also you can look at it very differently. you can stand up right away, and talk the begininng very fast , rambling, (but still clearly enough) and walk around, like pacing the whole time until "isn't that funny?" .
and then look at roderick for the last lien or somehting, much slower and dream-like.
i dont know, i feel like this can be pulled off in a bunch of different ways, and it rlly just depends how you're more comfortable, and whats going to be the best way for you to show your acting style through the character.

walk around at first trying to appeal to someone, perhaps the audience, or if Roderick is there, than him. Then once you get to "Some of them were horrible... oh, God... some of them were nightmares... " Shrivel back and sit down, looking scared. When you get to "and because we were together... always together... they didn't scare me." Relax a bit while sitting and look dreamy. Then at "Isn't that right? You were always there with me... weren't you? During those dreams?" try to frantically appeal again. then Dreamy for the rest until, "I'm dreaming now... I'm not? How can you be sure?" Turn to the audience or Roderick and ask them this, in a sad and frightened, frantic way. Wow. Sorry I get really into interpreting scripts and monologues. You don't have to use this. I don't know the context or anything. It might be totally wrong, but that's just what I would do.

If you have a director, you should listen to his directions. If you are working on your own, you should relax and feel what you think the character would do. You can use your choices from what the character was doing prior to the monologue, and on your own experiences of either what you have seen in the past or what you feel. The Director blocks movement[ stand here-go stage right -pick up the vase] An actor has to come up with how. Do I ooze? Do i Quiver? An actor is responsible for the internal feelings and how he or she projects them. A director should tell you whether you stand or sit. He or she is looking at the entire picture that an audience will see. If you are working on a monologue, go with your gut, and realize that movement is more exciting when it is both low, high, and medium, and when it shows a high range of dynamics[sharp, sustained, slow, fast, percussive etc.] If you can find reason in the text to make the movement true to the text, and make it exciting,go ahead. The playwright and the director want it to be true and exciting to watch. You, as an actor are allowed choices. That is how theater works.
