definately piano. its where most musicians start. including me. it teaches u the basic chords. and its pretty fun (but depends if u enjoy the type of music ur playing)

piano. it's a good one to start with.

piano is a good instrument to get a grasp on melody. it doesn't take any skill to hit a clean note, and it will be a good starter.

either piano or guitar. Both of them come in handy so much, it kinda depends I guess on you lol. Do you like a lot of piano songs? Like "mad world" or Evanescence? If so then piano could be your best bet, otherwise, if you like a lot of guitar songs then well, there you go. I play both which is just a load of fun.

Anyways, whatever you pick, email me, I can get you started with a couple tips and tell you where to find free sheet music.

Let me tell you -- if you have no music background, your first instrument is going to be the most difficult. Each instrument presents challenges that the other does not and vice versa. I personally don't believe any instrument being easier than another.
The piano has inherent challenges, especially hand independence and learning to read 2 or more staves of music at the same time. However, the benefits are endless -- you get to play music that dates further back than most of the traditional classical instruments we have today. Between piano and stringed instruments like violin, you get to play brilliant music that a wind instrument cannot!

Consider your physicality and how much time you plan on dedicating to the craft. If you don't want to blow into anything, that narrows you down to piano and stringed instruments like guitar, violin, cello, bass, etc. The price range for them will be high, just like with wind instruments.
Do you have good dexterity? No shoulder or hand problems? You need good basic dexterity to even begin. Not only that, the piano isn't easy!

I honestly recommend you visiting a local music shop to try out instruments. With guidance, you might be surprised -- especially when trying to play wind instruments. If you have attention devoted to you and what you're doing, you might find you enjoy playing the saxophone or trumpet.
At least at a shop, you have access to all kinds of instruments to test out and see what you like, as well as doing this with the help of a professional.

i can't say it better then the person above me..
